Our History

The Tanzania Institute of Quantity Surveyors

Was officially established on 28th April 1987 as a professional body dedicated to representing and advancing the interests of quantity surveyors in Tanzania.

Since its inception, the Institute has played a pivotal role in promoting excellence, integrity, and professionalism within the quantity surveying and allied professions. Over the years, TIQS has grown into a respected institution, bringing together both practicing and aspiring quantity surveyors committed to delivering value in the construction industry.

With the enactment of the revised Architects and Quantity Surveyors Act of 2000, TIQS further strengthened its mandate as a members’ representative body. This milestone reinforced its role in supporting professional development, safeguarding standards, and upholding ethical practices across the profession.

Throughout its journey, the Institute has continued to evolve by organizing professional events, facilitating knowledge sharing, and engaging with key stakeholders in both the public and private sectors. Today, TIQS stands as a symbol of unity, professionalism, and progress—contributing significantly to the growth of the construction industry and national development.
